Tracking Teeny - Actor Turned Adventurer!

Exercising with a group is so much better!
Having an Entourage is pretty cool. I mean hell, they even made a moderately successful show based on it.  (Clearly sarcastic opener!)

It's no shocker that having a group of people who have similiar interests, drive and time to spend together is beneficial.  I mean, hello?  Remember those things called clubs in High School?  I know, it's been a while BUT we can still use our little noggins for knowledge.  (Shudders at the thought of having a turning 27 last week.  Old Maid anyone?)

Walk around this with friends!
Walk along with me readers, I'm going somewhere here.

If we KNOW that it's helpful to have a group, or say an Entourage of people to motivate, why don't we add this to our active efforts?

Take a moment.  What I am suggesting is taking a format that is proven to work and applying it to another aspect of our life.  EUREKA!  I am a genius!!!!!!!!!!!   Nope, I just realized what motivates me!

When did this earthshattering idea come into fruition?  While on vacation, I had to complete my 5 mile run for my Half Marathon Training.  Feeling lazy and lacking motivation, my lovely tour guide offered to run with me.  What was a polite gesture on his part turned into more!  At the end of the race he was amazed.

"This is the longest I've ever run before.  Wow.  I just needed motivation."

WHAT?!?!  Someone with little running experience was able to bump up their all time running record with a little entourage action?  This was proof that all someone needs to get started is a little encouragement.  How you can create your own built in motivational entourage?

Part of my climbing entourage! I met them by....randomly approaching people at the gym!
     Erecting your Exercise Entourage
  1. Find people with similar goals (Ask friends, strangers at the gym, utilize twitter)
  2. Set a tangible goal you can all agree on (My group chose a Half Marathon.  We all picked the days we would run together)
  3. Keep each other accountable (We text when we wake up and when we are on our way to run)
  4. While you work out, motivate one another (We yell how it's easy and nag when of us wants to quit)
  5. Rinse and repeat for ultimate success

Because I knowingly followed this, I now have a 5 person running Exercise Entourage and a 10 person rock climbing Exercise Entourage.

Yesterday, I completed my 3rd week of Half Marathon Training! AND next week I am running The Highlander!! I would not have been able to do ANY of this without my Exercise Entourage.  More proof?  I think so!

How will you get an Exercise Entourage formed?  Do you already have one?
